The label “Inscription Rykiel” dates from 1989. In 1999 it was changed to “Sonia/Sonia Rykiel.” This suit is from the 1989 Collection. There is no size, so go by the measurements, which are approximate.
The jacket measures 22 in across the chest at the underarm seams. It is 32 in down the back. From shoulder seam to end of sleeve is 24 ½ in.
It is collarless. The sleeves end in 3 buttons and buttonholes. It has 2 large flap pockets. The breast pocket is still sewn closed.
The pencil skirt waist is 28 in. and the back length is 23 in.
This skirt has a back zip, 2 back tabs to cinch in the waist , a kick pleat, and a 1 ½ in. hem.
Both pieces have “Inscription Rykiel” buttons.
The fabric is 55% poly, 45% wool. It is a very dark black gabardine. The photos have been lightened in an attempt to show details.
The jacket is lined, the skirt unlined. Both pieces were made in France.
This suit is in very good condition. There are no missing buttons, snags, or spots. It is being stored in a cedar closet, so there may be a faint cedar/camphor smell. This should dissipate as it is aired.
